This policy describes the current Chrome extension. It is the text intended for the Ceryvex website. The extension does not ask you to create an account, and it does not send your browsing data to Ceryvex or to any other service.
What this product is
Ceryvex — Chrome Cleanup is a free extension for the Chrome browser. You open it from the Chrome toolbar. You can also open the same page in Chrome’s side panel. You choose a time range and the kinds of Chrome data to remove, review that choice, and then confirm it.
Nothing is removed when you install the extension, open it, or read Help or About. Cleanup runs only after you choose Clean selected items.
This release is the Chrome extension by itself. It does not include Ceryvex for Windows, and it does not ask you to download or sign in to another product.
What the extension can remove
You can choose one or more of these categories:
- Cached browser files. Temporary copies Chrome keeps so websites can open faster. Downloads and bookmarks are not removed. Chrome may also clear some short-lived temporary caches no matter how old they are.
- Browsing history. The list of websites you visited during the time range you choose. Bookmarks stay. If Chrome sync is on, history from that time range can also be removed from your Google account, and other devices signed in to that account can lose it too. Chrome may also clear some related browser records outside the time range you chose.
- Cookies and site data. Information websites store in Chrome, including sign-in details and saved preferences. Cleaning this may sign you out of websites and remove saved preferences or offline information. Some related website data may be removed even if it is older than the time range you chose. Chrome uses when that data was created or last changed, not only the time of your last visit.
Saved passwords, autofill, bookmarks, and downloads are not removed. The extension does not change Chrome’s settings.
Time range
You choose the last hour, the last 24 hours, the last 7 days, the last 4 weeks, or all time. That range applies to the main records for the categories you select. Chrome may also remove some related browser data that is not limited to that range. The extension shows that before you confirm.
What Ceryvex stores
Ceryvex does not collect, transmit, or sell your browsing history, cookies, or other browsing data.
The extension keeps one short note on your computer so it can tell whether a cleanup finished. Ceryvex keeps only the latest note. Nothing deletes it on a timer. Removing the extension removes it.
That note stores five fields:
- a cleanup id
- the time the cleanup started
- the time-range name you chose
- the category names you chose
- a status: running, finished, failed, unverified, or set aside after you choose Continue
It does not include the sites you visited, web addresses, cookie contents, or a device identifier.
If the extension is interrupted before that result is saved, Ceryvex does not guess that the cleanup succeeded and does not run it again by itself. Chrome may still be finishing that cleanup, and Chrome does not give the extension a way to look up the final result. The extension tells you the result cannot be verified. Continue means you are ready to move on. It does not remove data and it does not mean the earlier cleanup succeeded.
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. This extension does not receive browsing history, cookie contents, or page content from those APIs. It asks Chrome to remove the categories you confirm, and it keeps only the local note described above.
Permissions
The extension asks Chrome for two permissions:
- Side panel, so you can open the same cleanup beside the page you are browsing.
- Browsing data, so a cleanup you have reviewed and confirmed can remove the Chrome data listed above.
It does not ask for permission to read your page content, and it does not add code to the websites you visit. It does not monitor your browsing.
